WHAT IS FND AWARENESS DAY?

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported the FND Awareness Day UK, March 25th 2021. How ever you took part, whether it was by knitting a square for one of the four blankets that were made (update to follow), adding your story or creative talents to the website (see pages below), participating in the moving rendition of the song ‘Lean on me’, joining one of the three Zoom events which were held, making a donation or simply adding the twibbon to your Facebook profile – you helped make it a wonderful and extremely successful day.

Thank you from all at FND Action, FND Friends and FND Dimensions.

The 25th March marks FND Awareness Day in the UK, where charities and groups from across the UK partner up to run campaigns to help raise much needed awareness of Functional Neurological Disorders (FND). The day is hosted by the charities FND Action, FND Dimensions and FND Friends (click on logos below to visit their websites). Also, to learn more about FND visit www.neurosymptoms.org, which is an information website that has been written by one of the leading specialists in the world.

FND Awareness Day UK was started in 2017 and has been astounding and encouraging how much the momentum has grown year to year. Last year FND Australia Support Services joined us, who adopted the same date for FND Awareness Day in Australia! We continue with this thriving partnership.

Given we are still in lockdown, we will again be focusing our efforts in raising awareness across social media sites, and also getting our service users engaged in activities such as sharing experiences and creativity.

We welcome you to join us for our GREAT DAY IN by getting involved in any way you can. Specialist care and services are still poorly lacking, and with your support in helping raise our #Voices4FND we know it will help towards making a difference to hundreds of adults and children who are living with FND in the UK.

DONATIONS RECEIVED THIS YEAR WILL BE GOING TOWARDS SUPPORTING THE ALLIED HEALTH FND NETWORKING GROUP.

AWARENESS THROUGH EXPERIENCE

Sharing experiences with others is just one of many ways you can help raise awareness. It allows people to have an understanding of what it may feel like to be walking in your shoes. Click below to read self lived experiences that have been shared.

SPREAD THE WORD

"I am writing to you to help raise awareness of Functional Neurological Disorder (FND)". Help spread the word by sharing a letter to your gp's, NHS staff, health professionals, service providers, local councillors and more.

AWARENESS THROUGH CREATIVITY

Many find comfort, as well as enjoyment, in creativity. It could be knitting, drawing and more. We welcome you to get involved by joining our creative events, and sharing creations and hobbies. Click below to see what has been shared.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Twibbons are a great way to get involved in raising awareness on social media sites .. and it's simple. On Facebook and Twitter you can add a temporary filter over your profile picture. Click below for guidelines.
