FND Awareness Day UK – 25th March 2020 | Brighton’s Story

Hi, I’m Brighton from Portsmouth.

I have had non-epileptic seizures since I was 11 but was only diagnosed eight years later after being laughed at by my doctor. I’m 20 now and doing everything I can to spread the word about Functional Neurological Disorder. FND means I have seizures that aren’t epileptic, muscle spasms and tremors and dissociative fugues. Some are left with paralysis. It leaves me incredibly fatigued at the best of times and non-functional at the worst.

I’m sharing my story to try and make people more aware and understanding of my everyday life.
