FND Awareness Day UK – 25th March 2020 | Mike’s Story

I am a 63 year old male living in Canada and have been diagnosed with FND.

This condition can affect anyone. My main symptoms are weakness that makes me go down to the ground paralyzed for seconds or up to 10 minutes at a time, along with tremors throughout the body, spasms that can be painful especially in the legs and feet and numbness in my neck and shoulder blades on one side and pain at the base of the skull on the left side that fluctuates. Along with speech and swallowing problems that come and go and cognitive changes as well. And just stopping for some reason when walking unable to move for a few moments along with balance issues dizziness issues.

Thankfully the medical community is recognizing this condition more and more due to the efforts of many so that there is hope, thankfully. I like to remind myself to concentrate on what I can do rather than on what I’m no longer able to do as I read somewhere.

Thanks to the FND community for support and education.
