Sophia’s Story

#Voices4FND

I am 38 years old and I have five children. I work Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). I went into hospital with stroke like symptoms and was diagnosed June 2020, unfortunately I spent my birthday in hospital lol. To be completely honest I didn’t know about FND until being diagnosed and was surprised to see the lack of knowledge in the condition. I experience muscle weakness, tingling sensation, numbness, paralysis, tremors, swelling in my hands, collapsing and fainting, memory loss, absences, anxiety, depressive moods, pain in muscles and list goes on.

I want to see more and spread awareness, this condition has change my life and I have to adapt but I’m determined to continue the fight.

I have good days and bad days but my patients and children says I inspire them, it makes the fight worth it.
