Participants required for FND/NEAD research study

Seeking participants for a research study about awareness of body, self and environment in functional neurological disorder (FND) / non-epileptic attack disorder (NEAD)

We are seeking participants with FND (including NEAD, non-epileptic attack disorder) for a study about awareness of the body, self and environment. 

If you decide to participate, you will be invited for one research session at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience.

The session would involve completing several questionnaires (e.g., physical symptoms, body awareness), some computerised tasks, and some time sitting at rest in a quiet room. 

The study will take approximately 1.5-2 hours, including one or more breaks. You will receive a one-off thank you of £25 in cash on completion of the study.

To be eligible for the study, potential participants should be:

  • Over 18 years old.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Normal or corrected vision.
  • Diagnosed with FND and able to provide a medical letter to confirm this diagnosis.
  • Not diagnosed with another major neurological (e.g., epilepsy, multiple sclerosis), cardiovascular (e.g., heart disease), or psychiatric (e.g., psychosis, alcohol or substance dependence) illness.
