A personal story of living with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).
~~~
I often feel like my body does not belong to me any more. My diagnosis and symptoms led to me having to turn my life around, change careers, lose family and friends and more. All at the same time as not being in control of anything, including my own nervous system and brain.
Despite this, FND has enabled me to become extremely strong willed. I am a powerhouse of a human being, and I will not let FND take away from who I am. I’m a compassionate teacher, expressive musician and artist, I am caring and kind and a really good listener.
Wherever my life takes me, FND has taught how to put myself first and that it’s okay to take a moment to stop. To breathe. To remember that humans are not perfect, so why should I be?
