Emma’s Story 2 | FND Awareness Day UK 2026

A personal story of living with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).
~~~
I was diagnosed with FND the end of 2022. I started with muscle weakness and stiffness and I had to use a walking stick.
Then my symptoms changed and I started having seizures. They became more frequent and I was hurting myself each time. I pulled my hair out, broke my nose, bruised myself in many places.
I had to wait over 2 years to see an FND specialist and in the time I was waiting I lost my children and my husband was accused of domestic violence because no-one understood my condition.
I hope in telling my story more people will understand what this condition does to us and I wish more professionals would understand.
