Angel’s Story 2 | FND Awareness Day UK 2026

A personal story of living with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).
~~~
About 4/5 years ago I collapsed at work, that was the start of my life changing forever.
Months of seizures ruining work and sadly they let me go as was deemed unsafe for me given my role. After fighting the doctors I found out I had NEAD and they referred me to therapy. That didn’t help at all and I felt like there was more to it, but doctors didn’t listen. After looking myself I found facebook group and discovered FND. It was like a puzzle piece slotting into place.
Suddenly I had an answer why my legs get wobbly, my head gets foggy, fatigue, my joints ache and my speech goes funny, and so many things I’m still learning about.
It’s been a tricky journey the last 3/4 years but slowly I’m getting there. My partner is super supportive and we even moved from Kent to Devon for a quieter life to ease my symptoms which has helped massively. We also got a cat just after my seizures started to help with my anxiety and he’s changed my life. Within a month shadow was getting help whenever I was unwell, telling me off if I wasn’t napping or looking after myself and even will sit up with me if I’m having a night I can’t sleep well. I’m so grateful we got him and how much he’s helped my confidence especially when my partner is working.
It’s been a tough journey but each day gets a little easier and closer to accepting this is who I am and life has a different path for me then I wanted to take.
