Community Groups

FND Action provides a range of community groups for people affected by Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). They are places to meet others who understand some of the realities of living with FND, whether that is through an online community, a local meetup or simply having somewhere to stay connected. Our groups also welcome carers, family members and others supporting someone with the condition.

Everyone connects differently. Some people enjoy meeting face-to-face, while others may find WhatsApp, online communities or virtual meetings easier and more accessible. We want people to have different ways to take part, rather than feeling there is only one way to belong to a group.

Alongside our UK-wide online communities, we are continuing to build regional groups where people can connect closer to home. Depending on the area, this may include informal in-person meetups, WhatsApp chats and online meetings through Microsoft Teams.

Whether you are newly diagnosed, have been living with FND for many years, or are supporting someone with the condition, our communities are there to help people connect, share experiences, build friendships and feel part of something wider. You can find details of our UK-wide online communities and regional groups below.

People connecting and sharing experiences

Connection & Shared Experiences

Meeting others who understand can make a real difference. Our groups give people space to share experiences, hear different perspectives and feel less alone in some of the challenges that can come with FND.

People sharing practical information and ideas

Practical Information

Members can share useful ideas, local knowledge and experiences of everyday life with FND. Sometimes another person in the community may already have come across something you are trying to navigate.

People building friendships and encouraging one another

Friendship & Encouragement

FND may be what first brings people together, but it does not have to be what every conversation is about. Our groups can also be places to make friends, have a laugh, celebrate achievements and simply enjoy some company.

People taking part in community activities

Ongoing Support & Activities

Our communities are about more than one-off conversations. Depending on the group, there may be regular meetups, online catch-ups, social activities and other opportunities to stay involved and connected.

UK-wide online communities

Our online communities are open to people across the UK and give members another way to connect from home. They are places to ask questions, share experiences, join discussions or simply read along and take part when you feel comfortable.

We currently have three private Facebook groups, including separate groups for men affected by FND and for carers, as well as our community on HealthUnlocked.

FND Action Facebook Community

Our main private Facebook group brings together people affected by FND from across the UK to talk, ask questions and share experiences.

Regional Community Groups

Our regional community groups help people connect with others closer to home. We know that travelling or attending face-to-face activities is not always possible, so groups can offer different ways to stay involved.

Depending on the region, this may include informal in-person meetups, a regional WhatsApp chat and online meetings through Microsoft Teams. You do not have to attend everything to be part of your local community.

Each group is at a different stage of development, so what is available will vary from one area to another. You can find the latest details and contact information below.

Our regional communities are continuing to grow.
Not every option is available in every area yet. If you are interested in a group, please still get in touch even if the particular activity you are looking for is shown as coming soon.
