Diane’s Story | FND Awareness Day UK 2026

A personal story of living with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).
~~~
March 2025, my life turned upside down in ways i could never have imagined with a disability that i have never heard of before. Which to this day i am being constantly asked ” What is FND?”.
Then you try explain but don’t understand and how your symptoms can change so rapidly.
I ended up learning to walk again, speech therapy, neurophysio. Lost my full time job, lost driving, friends, its become lonely, depression set in. I now do my artwork on good days to lift my spirits.
Every day I never know which version of me will wake up as. I try every day and make the most of it. Learn to live with it rather than against. My plan is to start a FND group in my area as we don’t have one. Just appreciate what I do have rather than not what I don’t.
A new path, a new journey and life will be what it is, but I certainly treasure everything in life more now than I did as you never know when life will change.
