The 25th March marks FND Awareness Day in the UK, a day for our community to come together to raise awareness of Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and encourage others to learn more and get involved.

Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) is a brain network disorder that can affect anyone, at any age. For many people the neurological symptoms are severe and disabling, yet access to specialist care remains extremely limited in most parts of the UK.

Whilst neurologists see FND frequently in their clinics, many people find that receiving the diagnosis is only the beginning of a long and difficult journey. Awareness and understanding of FND are still low, leaving many individuals and families struggling to find the care and support they need.

Current estimates suggest that between 50,000 and 100,000 people in the UK may be affected by FND, although true prevalence remains unclear due to a lack of consistent reporting. Whilst specialist services and care pathways are slowly developing, access to appropriate treatment remains a postcode lottery.

FND Action advocates for accessible, collaborative specialist care for all. People living with FND deserve the opportunity to achieve and maintain the best possible quality of life.

FND Awareness Day UK gives us the chance to come together as a community and be the #Voices4FND to influence change.

Below you will find several ways you can take part and help raise awareness this year.

📍#MapFND

This FND Awareness Day we are building a map of voices across the whole of the UK.

By adding your town and county, you are helping to show where awareness and support for FND is being represented. Whether you live with FND, support someone who does, work in healthcare, or simply want to help raise awareness, every entry helps us show the growing reach of the FND community.

As more people take part, the map will grow to highlight voices across the country helping to improve understanding of FND and the need for better support, awareness, and access to care.

Add your town and become part of #MapFND, helping to show that awareness of FND is present across the UK and that no one is alone.

Entries will be reviewed and added to the map regularly.
